Don & Bessie Together

Fifth Child

Our fun GAIL LAURIN was born during the 1960 elections. Don took me to the hospital and since the doctor said it would be awhile he went home to check on the others and catch some of the results.  Well, I fooled them and gave birth in the hall on the way to the delivery room (saved paying for the delivery room).  When he got home the phone was ringing and the lady told him he had a daughter. November 8, 1960 America elected John F. Kennedy and we welcomed our second girl.

Lots of relations lived in Salt Lake. Uncle Rex had moved there from Casper.  His daughter Doris and family lived close by.  Bernice and family lived close too and some of Uncle Elwood’s children.  We enjoyed lots of fun times with family gatherings.

It wasn’t long until we bought a home in Holladay and became country cousins.  We had lots of room for a garden and a horse.  Dad and Ginny brought Grub Stakes, their horse, to board with us for a while.

I was doing some ‘spring cleaning’ and had my new white curtains hanging on the clothes line while I washed walls.  When I went to get them, they were in Grub Stakes mouth all gucky and green. I grabbed a broom and beat him off.  No fun, they were all ruined!
