Mapping our Changing World
Temperature: Celsius (C)
This map shows the effects of Climate Change over a 100 year period. The greatest change has occurred in the North. This map is comparing temperature change from the base period of 1901-1910 and the time interval of 1951-1960 (top) and 2000-2020 (bottom).
The base temperature is all of the surface temperature data NASA GISS have in their records. It's the average for the whole globe average surface temperature for 1901-1910 year. period of time.

Symbology and Legend Correction
The legend is not completely accurate. Both cool colors and the warm colors have the same intensity of darkness but the warm colors goes to 7.1 C and the cool colors only go to -3.2. In order to have an accurate representation the blue would have to be on the lighter side.
Having correct symbology is important because it represents the data accurately without any bias and if not applied correctly people might misinterpret the data. If you look at the set of maps I created, they both tell a difference story even though its the same data and map but difference legend.
