Lynn Conway, from Mount Vernon, began her career gaining a Bachelor of Science in Physics at MIT and then progressed to Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. She was employed by IBM and started working on an Advanced Computing Systems Project which led her to invent dynamic instruction handling. This was an achievement in out of order execution and is used on modern computers to improve performance.

After IBM, Lynn Conway was recruited by Xerox PARC where she made scalable design rules for VLSI chip design. This provoked her to write the Mead and Conway text while she taught design methods which revolutionised the large-scale integrated microchip design.

Lynn has been awarded for her contributions and has received many honours in her name. She has done amazing work for Transgender Activism including going public with her story to normalize the issues surrounding gender identity and providing support to others.

All in all, Lynn Conway was an amazing computer scientist, electrical engineer, inventor, and transgender activist who continues to inspire people today.
