Introduction
Through the form of animation, our objective is tell an inspirational story. Using note cards, we will create a frame-by-frame animation, that depicts the story of a man ready to make a big change in his life. Starting off with a sad, depressing opening, the story will focus on him as he argues against himself on whether he should take the leap or not. Will he make it to the better life, or will he continue living miserably
DRIVING QUESTION:
How can we make a frame by frame animation using flash cards?
Purpose:
To show a man taking the leap which leads to a new, better life.
Background Research:
Our project is based on the idea of "Taking the leap" and is expressed through flip-book-similar animation. What makes flip-book animation stand out from others is that it is able to tell an entire story within a matter of seconds, while also showing that it was made with effort and by normal people. In order to understand how to make a flipbook animation, only three things are really needed: Post cards (frames), pencils, and a bright screen such as a tablet or a laptop. The idea is to draw one frame, and then placing it under another frame while on the screen, allowing easy tracing. Every frame, you would adjust one action, it can be anything, and when you put them together and flip through it, you have an animation.

Procedures
Design character and create storyboard
Gather Materials
Draw scene 1 on note card
Place scene 1 on top of bright screen, and blank note card on scene 1. Hold together using binder clip
Trace the previous scene, adjusting the sequence slightly
Repeat the process with every scene until animation forms
Real Life Connection:
Taking the leap is an important aspect in a person's life. It is the risk that needs to be taken to unlock a better level of life. MLK took the risk of death, and spoke out for the discriminated.
ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING
In order to make our animation, we were required to draw similar frames repeatedly. By drawing each frame once, we could then manipulate it in Adobe Premiere Pro, letting us add the exact right amount. Our animation relies on the scientific prinicple known as the persistance of vision. To briefly summarize our principle, the human will eye percieve an image longer than it appears. This is applied to our animation because every frame is just a drawing, but when put together in a sequence, it tricks the eye into believing there is movement.
Safety:
Looking at a bright screen for hours in a dark area can lead to eye strain
Drawing almost the same from over and over can lead to one going insane, depression, and contemplation of life.
