Day 1

In class, we chose our PBL topic as "How to make a short film" and brainstormed ideas on what our film will be about. The film industry has grown rapidly in the past hundred years partly due to increased leisure time and quick advancements in film-making technology. We wanted to see if it was possible to make a short film with the limited resources we had for our class.

Day 2

We finalized our decision to make our short film on peer pressure in high school. We also made a script. Making a script is a great way for film-makers to organize their character's dialogue and show how they interact and react to each other and the environment around them.

Day 3

While we finished up our script, we also cast four characters for our short film and finished the background research for our PBL. We made sure the characters would be appropriate enough that would make sense in the final video.

Day 4

We wrote down more ideas and finally finished the storyline and dialogue for the script that the voice actor will play.

Day 5

We edited the script to bring the characters to life and ensure the characters don't overlap, which would make the film confusing.

Day 6

After practicing the scripting for the scenes, we started making the props and drawing the set.

Day 7

We built the cast and started to record the scripting dialogue voiceover lines.

Day 8

We started practicing on the set and finished the voice-over acting script.

Day 9

After we finished the acting scenes on an iPhone, we put all the clips together, edited the voice acting, and merged all using iMovie. This took hours to edit, from clipping voiceovers and every video to adding background music and adjusting the volume for every clip.

Day 10

We finished the video on iMovie and brochure and added the final touch-ups to our PBL website.

Thank you for coming on this journey with us!
