My name is Mehmet Bisen, I attend Harmony School of Endeavor and today I chose my PBL Project. I chose the "Double-Ball Bounce" project. I picked this project because it seems very interesting to me. By conducting my research and watching videos about my project, I came to the conclusion that when someone wants to get students interested in STEM subjects, we need to meet them where they are and appeal to their interests. While being quite straightforward, the project explains a lot about momentum and energy. In this project, I will drop two balls on top of one another and track the speeds of the individual balls.

Today, I started the research for my project. I searched previously done double-ball bounce experiments to understand better the idea of the ball being bounced, and I discovered that kinetic energy gets utilized. Although gathering data for my topic required a lot of labor, my inquiry into momentum and energy yielded some impressive results. I discovered and learned a lot thanks to my research and improved my knowledge of energy and momentum. I also acquired a wealth of knowledge regarding my project and found out that both elastic contact and gravitation will likely occur during the bounce of our two balls.

Today I started to gather all of the materials I needed and studied the procedures of the experiment. The materials that I gathered were a basketball and a tennis ball. I went to my backyard to do the experiment and test the double-ball system. I went over the procedure multiple times to ensure I did not mess up. It was a little difficult remembering everything about the procedure while conducting the experiment but it worth the results.

To see if my theory hypothesis was accurate, I placed the tennis ball on top of the basketball and dropped it a few times. I made the decision to experiment repeatedly while raising the drop height to see diverse outcomes. The tennis ball always traveled farther than the basketball, and the difference was easily noticeable. It was very exciting to observe the height and velocity of the tennis ball as it constantly took off soaring.

While trying out my project, the tennis ball which was the one on top of the basketball traveled higher than the basketball. After a few times of repeating our procedure at different drop heights, I recorded my video. It was really fun recording the video and seeing how the tennis ball went higher after dropping the basketball and the tennis ball at the same time. My conclusion to the project was that my hypothesis was correct.
