In 1981, the first platform game was made by Nintendo: Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong was an Arcade game that required the Jumpman (You) to climb ladders and avoid barrels thrown by Donkey Kong and reach the lady he has captured in order to save her.
The next game made was Super Mario Bros, officially released in 1985. It is a two-player game that sold 40 million copies. Being a huge success, Nintendo started releasing Marios 1, 2, 3, and other games similar to it.
Today there can be new versions of the Mario game such as Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart D8, and many more.
This is a look at the first platform game, with Donkey Kong, Jumperman, and a damsel in distress.
