STEM Early College wants to promote ease of access during the remote learning period by providing online teacher and staff availability. Our goal is to ensure we do not have an educational opportunity gap. Maintaining a high degree of transparency and availability will make this teaching and learning opportunity better for us all.
We value instructional time, Remote Learning allows us to extend learning into the home and keep everyone safe during inclement weather or medical outbreak. The goal is to keep students learning, even when face to face options are unavailable. A Remote Learning day is designed to provide assignments that are very similar to what’s received in a normal school day. Students will have regular assigned classwork on Remote Learning Days, and their teachers will be available electronically, synchronous and asynchronous. Students will be required to complete and submit all assignments as well as communicate with their teachers during the virtual Remote Learning days.
Teachers will be expected to communicate with students, track virtual attendance and be available to students during virtual office hours.
The chart below indicates the teacher, subject, office hours or mode of instructional delivery, and the time of instructional delivery. Students should log into Canvas at the time that aligns with the course or teacher indicated in the chart. Families should look to Canvas to access links to the various live stream options. For example, a student taking Mr. McKnight for math III should access his live-streamed lesson each day from 10-11:30am. The instructional delivery times are staggered by grade level to ensure students can access their teachers each day. If you are currently enrolled in an online course, continue to work in that course at other times during the day.
