Week Four: Discovery and Connection
Chapters 17–21
As Wash continues his journey across the world, he begins to build a new life shaped by science, exploration, and meaningful relationships. Living and working with naturalist Christopher Wilde, Wash develops his talent for drawing marine life and studying the natural world, discovering both intellectual purpose and a sense of possibility. During this time he also meets Tanna, whose friendship offers Wash a rare feeling of understanding and connection. Yet even as new opportunities emerge, Wash continues to wrestle with the weight of his past and the lingering question of where he truly belongs. These chapters highlight Wash’s growing confidence as well as the complex search for identity, belonging, and purpose beyond survival.
