STEM SOS is a rigorous, multidisciplinary, standards-based STEM teaching style that is teacher-facilitated, student-centered, and project/inquiry-based (P&IBL) guided. The goal of PBL-based learning is to keep the focus on standards-based teaching while enhancing and expanding students' learning through PBL projects. The objective is to enhance student success based on state and national standards as well as collaborative skills and student ownership of learning.
PBL is a constructivist teaching technique in which students participate in a meaningful project of personal interest to them, with an emphasis on teamwork and customized learning. STEM SOS PBL Showcase is intended to put on display and share outstanding students and their work in PBL projects that may be used as important learning and teaching tools by students, parents, instructors, and other educators.
