Stella Arbeláez Tascón  was born in Cali, Colombia and moved to NYC in her teen years. She graduated with honors from the Fiorello H. La Guardia H.S. of Music & Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT-SUNY) with an AAS in Fashion Illustration and a BFA in Fine Arts Illustration. She has also trained at the Scoula Polimoda in Florence, Italy and The Art Students League of New York.  In the mid-nineties she moved to Orlando, FL to work as a special effects artist for the Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio. After moving to Los Angeles to raise a family, she continued to work in the animation and entertainment industries while completing advanced coursework in human development and early childhood education at The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), starting her career in the education field. Stella works as a research artist and educator after obtaining an MFA in Studio Arts from The University of Central Florida (UCF). Her  artistic research explores the relationship and analogies found between nature and mental health, based on her personal experiences after walking 1130 miles across the state as a thru-hiker of the Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST) in 2020.
