In addition to our monthly business meetings, our court participates in many activities.
These may include "field trips" to local or regional Spiritual Sites. In the past, we have made pilgrimages to the Shrines of St. Ann in Metairie and of Blessed Fr. Francis Xavier Seelos in New Orleans, and have toured the Old Ursuline Convent. On Good Friday, we join together to walk the Nine Churches Pilgrimage in New Orleans.
You may also see us hosting charitable events. Some of our service projects have been assembling gift bags of clothing and toiletries for trafficking victims at Eden House in New Orleans, bringing personal toiletries to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Mobile, AL., and sponsoring a child in need from Westwego, LA.
We also have sponsored and/or provided for seminarians, including now-ordained Fr. Paul Oyie of the Archdiocese of Tororo, Uganda. Though he is now so far geographically, back in his home country, we miss him dearly. Please join us in praying for Fr. Oyie, for the needs of priests, for seminarians, and for all vocations.
Our Court founded the "Chalice for Vocations" Program at St. Cletus Church. Each week, a parish family or parishioner takes home the Chalice and prays for vocations every day. If you would like to sign up, please contact 504-376-4841.
Court St. Cletus supports the St. Cletus Catholic Church Parish and its Parish community. We participate in and donate to functions like the Fall Festival, and give support wherever it is requested. Our Court may assist St. Cletus Parish affiliated groups with service projects. And we can be seen serving Coffee & Donuts after Masses, or Cake and Refreshments after Sacraments of First Communion or Confirmation Masses.
Yet as Catholic Daughters of the Americas, we retain an International Identity. Therefore, we donate to causes locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. We are committed to National and Regional organizations, and continue our giving through fundraising. Our fundraisers have included Family Advent Wreath Sales, "'PRAY': Patrick Peyton" Video Viewing, a Rummage Sale, and a Father's Day St. Joseph Statue Raffle.
Through it all, we don't forget how to let loose! The Christmas Cookie Exchanges have eggnog, and there are plenty of delightful dishes at the Pool Parties. Whether it's a crafting party for a Rosary Sale, or it's a day out with the CDA sisters after a successful service project, we always end up having a fabulous time!
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas 61st Biennial National Convention will be held on July 22-26 in Coralville, Iowa.
More than 720 people are planning to enter the Catholic Church at Easter through their parish Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) programs.
Pope invites Catholics to 'disarm' language and build kindness, respect for Lent.
