This class does not meet on Zoom, though you can request a Zoom appointment with me.
This is not a self-paced course, new material will not be available until the Friday before the subsequent week.
All activities, assignments, and content will be posted on Canvas.
You are encouraged to support each other in the learning process, but avoid allowing yourself to be taken advantage of (i.e. just sending a finished worksheet doesn't do anyone any favors).
This means you’ll be responsible for two weeks worth of work each week, completely online!
Each week will consist of two units - one due on Wednesday and one due on Friday.
The graphic to the right (or below if you're on mobile) is for half of a week!
We have two sets of due dates each week (suggested on Wednesday and Friday, with an actual due date on Sunday evening). The weekday due dates are a suggestion to help spread out the workload, but the Sunday due date is a strict due date.
Knowledge Checks will close on Sunday at 11:59pm. You cannot access them late.
Discussion Boards will usually have points associated with timeliness. You can submit them after Sunday at 11:59, but you will miss those points associated with submitting on time.
Activities can be submitted after the submitted due date up until the exam for that material, but I do not suggest making turning them in late a habit as this course is go, go, go!
Knowledge checks are weekly quizzes on the video material. They have TWO attempts and some helpful hints appear after your first attempt. You can use any resource - tutors, classmates, me, as you work on them, but make sure you understand since those tend to be my favorite types of questions!
Every week there will be at least two 'activities' to complete either during our Zoom session or before it. Worksheets will be graded for correctness while some activities will be graded based on effort. All online activities can be resubmitted and revised as many times as needed to learn the material before the exam for that content. There is no late penalty, but you are encouraged to submit them on time to get guidance from me!
Each week, there will be a discussion board or a project assignment posted on Canvas. These can also be resubmitted and revised as many times as necessary before the exam on the corresponding content. There is a late penalty on these items as you are expected to be able to interact and help your peers. The late penalty can be seen on the rubric.
There will be a project at the end of the semester composed of individual assignments.
There are 3 exams and an optional final exam (which will replace the lowest exam score) given during the semester.
Evidence of cheating - getting help from a PERSON or online tutor during an exam will result in a 0 on that exam that cannot be replaced by the optional final. It doesn't happen often, but students will share exam questions with their friends not realizing I can usually spot that.
You can be dropped from the course after missing 1 week worth of class. That means 1 weeks worth of online submissions (2 online activities, 1 discussion and 1 knowledge check).
Let me know what's going on! I will wonder where you were, so just check in and let me know what's happening. We can figure out a game plan to get back on track, if possible.
If you're new to Mesa, there are no +/- grades.
Your final grade in the class will be based on your overall percentage:
