We believe that fostering the exchange between international start-ups, founders, and entrepreneurial communities is beneficial to all involved parties. Rising beyond the boundaries of locally established networks opens one's eyes to novel opinions, connections, and business ideas.
For these reasons, we founded the Start-up World Tour. In remote video conferences, we host monthly events with international speakers and audiences. Each event covers a certain technical, social or political topic and consists of company presentations, discussions and interactive Q&A sessions. To encourage the exchange between international communities, we also include networking sessions at the end of each event.
While we are constantly trying to improve format of our events, the current framework is:
1.5-hour Zoom session with open-end networking
10-minute presentations by each of the speakers, followed by another 10 minutes of audience Q&A
Moderated discussion and networking
We are a team of five scholars from Manage&More by UnternehmerTUM. Usually, we organize 3-day trips to foreign cities and meet with local start-ups, founders, VCs and incubators to get to know the local start-up landscape. In April 2019, we had to postpone our trip to Warsaw due to Covid-19. All of us strongly believe in the value of international exchange and networking, so we came up with a new, entirely online format: The Start-up World Tour.
We invite anyone with an entrepreneurial background to speak at our events. As we aim to establish international connections, we encourage foreign guests to highlight country-specific circumstances and business models.
Whether you are a founder of a well-established company or an early-stage entrepreneur still in the ideation process, as long as you have an interesting contribution to make, we want you to speak at our events! To cover topics in their society-wide context, we are also keen to invite speakers from social, political or educational institutions.
We aim to invite up to 100 guests per session. Naturally, our own Manage&More community will be invited to the events, but also other entrepreneurial communities such as START and the Center for Digital Technology and Management. As the event and our own network grows, we will invite more iternational communites and guests.
If you are interested in being part of our sessions, drop us a message! We are always happy to grow the event and have a larger, more diverse audience.
There is a multitude of incentives for people to speak at our events. First and foremost, you get to present your idea or vision to an audience of highly skilled and driven students, founders and entrepreneurs. You will get valuable feedback, new ideas, expand your network and maybe even establish business connections to grow your company.
You also get the chance to convince our guests of the importance of your work and get access to a pool of promising future employees.
The discussion with other, international founders in a similar domain can only be beneficial to the development of your business and potentially opens up opportunities for co-operation.
As we are a student initiative, we can't offer any monetary compensation.
If you have suggestions for future events, want to be a speaker, partake in the organization of an event or have any general remarks or questions, drop us a message to lars.carius@manageandmore.de!
