There are many reasons one is drawn to their yoga mat. I found yoga while battling chronic pain, depression and body shaming issues. It was the first time in my life I learned to listen to my body without judgment and to appreciate how it moved. Yoga allows me to slow down, breathe and become present. Through yoga, pranayama and meditation, I have gained acceptance for what my mind and body are capable of, instead of fighting to look or be a certain way. I feel stronger than I ever have in my life moving with my body instead of against it.


For me personally, practicing yoga means letting go of “do-ership” and allowing myself to Just Be. It means quieting the mind and opening the heart. In a world where the ground is constantly shifting below us and noise can be a challenge to tune out, I encourage us to find a moment where we can...
