Rehearsals

Here at Starr Dance, dress and technical rehearsals are a super important part of preparing for our recital. This is where we get to see all the dancers in costume and dancers working on stage in a group.

Dress rehearsal we see everyone fully dressed and fix any last-minute costume, hair, or makeup.

Tech Rehearsal gives the stars of our show a chance to get up and rehearse on the big stage – a very different environment than they are used to within the studio walls. They can overcome some of the jitters that may hit when the bright lights come on and really prepare themselves for the show ahead. Tech Rehearsal is mandatory to participate in the Recital.

In Studio Dress Rehearsal & Picture Week

Dress rehearsal will be held at Starr Dance Studio the week of May 17 -23, 2025. Dress rehearsal is during your dancer’s normal class time at the studio. Dancer’s need to come to class in costume, with hair, makeup, shoes, and tights. This is a chance for teachers to see the dancers complete look before stage time to ensure a uniform look.  This is also the day we will take group photos.

Technical Rehearsal

Tech rehearsal will be held at Lincoln-Way West High School on June 3, 2025. Rehearsal begins at 4:00 pm. See the rehearsal time sheet for your dancers call time. To run a time efficient tech rehearsal dancer’s do not need to wear costumes. However, they must wear dance apparel; black dance clothes are preferred but solid colors are required.  Dancers need their correct shoes for each dance. For the girls, hair must be pulled back and off their face. Tech Rehearsal in Mandatory to participate in the Show.

Students should stay in the auditorium with a responsible parent or guardian until we call them backstage. Once backstage the staff and volunteers will be supervising through the duration of rehearsal. Once the dancer has finished their scheduled rehearsal they will be returned to their parent or guardian and are welcome to leave.

Parents and staff members who are volunteering to help at the recital will also need to be available Tech Day to ensure they understand their roles and can see how everything will be run on show day.

Solos and Duet Numbers will not have a technical rehearsal
