Sundays at 6pm · Free · No partner or experience required
Join us Sunday nights for beginner-friendly swing dancing, good music, and good company. We focus on the lindy hop—a playful, energetic partner dance that originated to jazz music of the 30s and 40s, and is danced all over the world today.
Come for the dancing. Stay for the music, the people, and the occasional ridiculous dance move.
Lindy Hop is a playful, energetic, improvisational partner dance. It’s full of rhythm, connection, creativity, and a little bit of silliness. You might learn a move, change it up, make something up on the spot, or spend an entire song goofing off with your partner and making each other laugh.
Watch a few examples, then come try it yourself!
You don't need to know anything before you walk through the door. We'll teach you the basics and help you find your feet. Come on your own or bring a friend—we'll be happy to have you!
Ready to give it a try? Join us Sunday nights at 6pm!
Wondering what it's actually like to come dance with us?
The Commercial Dispatch came out to one of our events and wrote about the dancing, the friendships, and the wonderful things that happen when people get together to learn swing.
“There’s something about swing where you’re kind of learning to just shrug it off and be goofy. ... You can just show up and be yourself and get to meet people.”
— Jennavieve, Starkville Swing Dance instructor
