The alien spaceship loomed over Claudius. As asteroids moved, the orange light of the system's star brought out the details. The fore part of the ship was broken in half, no hull left, only skeletal beams remained. The aft seemed almost intact, even pressurised. Claudius could feel a light vibration of machinery when touching the hull.Â
He went back to the now useless Rockhopper and dug through the mining equipment looking for a industrial grade blowtorch and drill.

Equipped, he quickly cut into the side of the ship, reaching the tight space between the outer hull and inner chambers. A quick trip along the beams lead him to the next segment sealed with a simple manual airlock. He forced it open and slipped into the ship itself.

Basked in warm, greenish light it looked almost welcoming. The walls were quicksilvery speak, covered in pulsating writing he could not decipher. And there was gravity. Real gravity, which Claudius haven't felt in months. He felt heavy, almost sluggish - it must have been more than 1g, closer to 1.5. Nothing he couldn't handle, but he had to get used to it. He entered the nearest cabin trying to guess it purpose and get his bearings.
The room was full of equipment, half-assembled machines, electronic parts, mangled metal contraptions. Looked haphazardly organized, like if someone tried to save the ship after whatever calamity befell it. Trying to organize a workshop for repairs and salvage whatever was still salvageable. From the looks of it, they failed. Mongoose moved towards aft of the ship - he was almost certain the command center was gone. If he wanted to disable the derelict ship, he would need to kill it at its core - and if alien ships followed the same logic as human's did, that would be the engine core in the back.
Soon he reached a long room full of fluorescent tubes 2 meters in diameter and more than 20 in length. The temperature dropped suddenly when he entered the room, he could see a fern frost pattern forming on his visor before the suit compensated for the temperature change. Then he saw a console on the far end of the room - blinking with green and orange light, still powered, possibly still usable. He moved towards it and heard a blaring noise of suit's alarm. Whatever was in those tubes, it was leaking and radioactive! He would need to make haste.
Face Danger [Weak Hit: 1 + 1 + 0 = 2 vs 9 | 1]
Claudius reached the alien console and stared at it intently. Unfortunately, no "STOP" button was visible. The pulsating light, weird smooth bulging surfaces, something that looked like funnel gauge. Alarming beeping of the suit was growing louder and louder, there was no time. Mongoose grabbed the funnel control and moved it all the way up.

The lights in the room went brighter, a deep hum emanated from the aft part of the ship. And then one of the tubes cracked! A supercooled liquid started pouring out, and the radioactive sensors of Huval's suit went wild. The console displayed a 3D schematic with symbols in several places. Claudius had seconds to make sense of it before bailing out if the room.
Gather information [Miss: 1 + 1 + 0 = 2 vs 3 | 4]
No use. The schematic were too alien to make any sense out of them, he will have to trust his instincts and move towards the humming sounds. The think that did worry him was something else - one of the symbols moved...
Mongoose sealed the door behind him, before the radioactive coolant could reach it - still he felt, some long med-bay sessions awaited him when he gets back from this damned wreckage. He moved along the corridor, carefully not to stumble upon whatever was moving on the schematics. The calm green light, the constant hum and the stillness of the rooms he crossed, almost lulled him to his death. When he stepped out of the rum to a intersection of 4 corridors he heard an ominous whizz, as an ancient defense system went live!
