[Progress Roll: Steal algae shipment and deliver it to Minerva Station :Strong Hit = 9 vs 1 | 3]
In the end, the negotiations and algae redistribution went well. Even if Gavin and Vida were mad at each other, it did not sidetrack them from the importance of reaching an agreement. When the mechanics went to their asteroid, and the representatives of other hubs were queued for picking up supplies, Claudius, Vida and her fellows spent a lazy evening sharing stories and eating algae stew - which in these circumstances almost tasted good. Huval couldn't remember the last time he just felt relaxed and welcomed. Neither Hammond nor his boys seemed to hold a grudge for the whooping Huval gave them - maybe he will be able to fix his ship after all.

Unfortunately, the algae was not the only problem of Minerva station. When Claudius brought the limping "Yatahawal" to Hammond's repair station, he saw the docks filled with broken mining equipment.
-We are swamped with work, paraaya! All the machines in the 30NE Arch went haywire. We fix'em, and they come back few days later with new issue. Looks like some stray alien junk is floating in the area. Normally we would wait it out, but we can't stop mining now, the orbital time-window is closing upon us...
Claudius stared silently at Gavin, waiting for the mechanic to get to the businesses.
-Well, ok, big guy, here's the deal. I give you a low-tech rock hopper, you find the alien junk and disable it, and we'll find a spot in our queue to fix your starship. And everyone can get back to their business, ke?
-You can sart working on my ship already - Claudius nodded, took out his Black Iron Knife and put it to his chin and lips.

The Rock-hopper was a sturdy, small shuttle. It's seen better days, but came equipped with mining tools and auto-nav system integrated with asteroid map, that should allow for relatively safe passage through the belt. Claudius crammed his suit and equipment in a small compartment inside and flew off towards 30NE Arch.

The first few hours of travel went by without surprises. Mongoose could see a bright spots of living hubs, mining sites and research station scattered among the asteroids - almost like a second constellation interinposed on the real stars of the Forge. He could see why none of the local powers were able to subdue these people. Without the asteroid map, traversing the belt would be a really risky business, and with dozens of stations, the effort was not worth the cost. If you spread your numbers thin enough, you could fly under the radar off the local powers. Something to keep in mind for the future...

After some hours, the habs were becoming scarcer, but the journey was becoming harder - cargo loads slinged from mining sites, automated rovers and drill machines, small asteroids not mapped in the nav-comp. 10 hours into journey, Claudius had to make so many corrections to auto pilot, that it made no sense to keep it on any longer. He switched to manual control and decided to power through, despite growing weariness.
Face Danger [Miss: 2 + 3 + 0 = 5 vs 10 | 8]
The traffic become more and more chaotic - too late did Claudius realize he must be nearing the alien artifact. Suddenly one of hopper engines just powered on putting the whole into a vicious spin. Mongoose fought to regain control, when he saw a huge trawler on collision course! At last moment he was able to hook the magnetic clamps to its hull hatching a ride and getting a few moments of respite. Only then did he feel the adrenaline kicking in with force.
Endure Stress (2) [Weak Hit: 4 + 3 + 0 = 7 vs 6 | 8]
He took a good hour to calm down and take some rest, while riding the enormous vehicle. It looked like the machine was broken, making random turns, accelerating and stopping suddenly. Claudius waited patiently, for an opportunity to present itself and it finally did - he noticed a trace of Black Iron structure on hopper's spectrometer, released the clamps and blasted his engines to get to the alien object in single jump.
For the first time he could see it with his own eyes - a black shape, broken in half, like a bird's claw. The Black Iron of the hull gave it an ominous look, and broken bars jutting from the obliterated wreckage looked almost like feathers. "Raven's Claw" thought Claudius "let's go!"

He got the trajectory right, but did not expect that the low-tech Rock-hopper would angry the alien device this much - all systems went down the moment he touched the surface of the object. He reached his target, but was stranded here until he was able to disable it...
