My current research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of SA derivatives - hybrid molecules that contain antioxidant and nitric oxide-donating properties - in protecting retinal ganglion cells. Using a range of models, including in vitro, in vivo, and ex vivo testing in both rodents and human explants, my aim is to uncover the mechanism(s) by which these SA derivatives operate. My background lies in nanomedicine, encompassing polymeric/liposomal nanoparticle synthesis, drug encapsulation, and targeted delivery.
