Welcome to the world of Pediatric Anesthesia! Kids are awesome, sometimes intimidating, and always fun :) The peds ORs are down on the Ground Floor of LPCH.
Getting there on your first day: From the Pasteur side, walk into 300P like you're headed to the Anesthesia Department. Stay on the 1st floor and walk along the hallway headed in the direction of the "F" wing. Keep going straight, past the "F" wing, head through the double-doors at the end of the hall. As you continue on, you'll see a Train on your right-hand side with elevators on your left-hand side. Take those elevators down to the ground floor. Go left coming out of the elevators and through the double-doors. You're now in the OR! Take your first left again and walk to the front desk where you'll meet the rotation director :)
Your first day is nice and relaxed. We will take you through the ropes, show you the hospital, and talk through expectations. Just plan to show up on Day 1 ready to rock :)

1 Call:
In-house call: 7am-7am (24 hr call). During the day, you'll start with first-case start and do a regular day of cases. You'll continue in the OR until the last case is complete. You'll carry the ARC phone (scheduler phone, x19705) overnight and triage calls about emergent/urgent/and next-day cases. You'll also carry the pediatric pain Voalte and respond to pain questions overnight. You'll be the first responder to pedi Codes and airways. We know this sounds like a lot, but the calls are generally pretty chill! You'll hand off the ARC phone at 7am (Monday 8am).
Home call: 7am-1 room remaining. If you're home call, there will be a yellow diamond Sticky Note on your Amion schedule stating this! In this situation, the fellow is staying in-house, so you'll have a regular OR day and work until you're down to 1 OR, after which time you'll be available from home in case multiple ORs are required overnight. Amion for peds fellows: ped$fellow$.
2 Call: Only on weekdays. Late-day resident. First case start until you are down to two rooms!
