Welcome to Stagecoach Torquay & Newton Abbot. Term dates can be found in the term dates section. Here is some information about Stagecoach and your first day, we can't wait to meet you and welcome you to the Stagecoach family.
Stagecoach Promise
At Stagecoach Performing Arts, we promise to give our students the creative courage to embrace life and make the most of their talents and opportunities.
As a leading body in the performing arts industry, we will nurture and inspire every child who joins us.
We will keep them safe and give them the courage to be themselves.
Your child will learn how to sing, dance and act while developing a broad range of life skills.
Our students become more self-assured, expressive, sociable and imaginative and they learn how to tackle situations with resilience, creativity and courage.
At Stagecoach Performing Arts, we have developed a unique Educational Framework for each stage of learning. Our framework helps every student develop and reach their full potential and work at their own pace. This will give you an outline of the skills and expectations in each stage. Although we have a framework, each child is very different and some can leap ahead and some take longer to develop. We work with your child at their pace. The main thing is that they develop confidence in themselves and enjoy learning.
You will have received a confirmation email following your enrolment which provides all the details you need that are specific for the class you have joined. If you have not received this, please make contact with the Principal.
What to expect?
The first few weeks we will help your child settle in by helping them make friends and doing lots of getting to know you exercises to learn names and learn what we do. We will also get straight on with our normal classes so you will be nice and busy.
What do I wear?
Your child should wear comfortable clothes such as a T-shirt, leggings or joggers and trainers whilst they take part in the two week trial. Long hair needs to be tied up and jewellery and watches should be left at home. Uniform can be purchased at the school once you are sure Stagecoach is right for you after the two-week trial.
What do I bring?
Bring a drink and snack for break time for Main Stages (just a drink for Early Stages). If your child must bring a mobile phone please make sure they know this must be on silent and kept in their coat or bag. Stagecoach do not take any responsibility for these.
Where do I go?
We run classes in a number of locations - check your confirmation email to see which class you have selected. Look at our Location and Drop Off page for more information on the specific locations.
Do I stay or do I go?
Parents are best outside the classroom as children settle better without their parents around. Our child safeguarding policy also states that we do not allow parents on site - you are not a stranger to your child but you are to all the other students. We will text all new parents to let you know how your child/ren are getting on.
Our teaching team are excellent at making children feel comfortable in a new environment and rest assured that we will contact you if your child does not settle.
Medical Issues or Learning Needs
If your child has any ongoing medical conditions we should know about please let us know. Any medication coming on site needs to be handed to the Principal and a medical form completed.
We do our best to accommodate individual requirements, please let us know in advance if there are any reasonable adaptations we need to make so your child feels at ease. When necessary, resources are online to help you help your child with lines, lyrics and choreography too!
