Performance at Stagecoach is about more than simply learning how to sing, dance and act. We help students develop the creative courage to unlock their potential, to stand up and be heard, to work well with other students and to embrace new ideas and possibilities. As they put their new skills into practice, students become more self-assured, expressive, sociable and imaginative. All skills that will serve them well on the stage of life.
Our term time schools run for three x 12-week terms per year – consisting of an Autumn, Spring & Summer term. Each term has a different focus, one is skills and techniques based, another a demonstration term and lastly our show term which is a full on theatre production for Main Stages. We encourage parents to embrace our performance opportunities as an audience member at our end of term performances and demonstrations. We follow a varied and scheduled syllabus (see Educational Framework for further details) and we are always happy to discuss your child's progress to ensure you are kept informed along the way.
Stagecoach is split into stages - Early Stages for students aged 4 to 6, these run for 90 mins and include 30 minutes of singing, acting/games and dancing. Main Stages for students aged 6 to 18, these run for three hours and include 55 mins each of singing, acting and dancing (split into three age appropriate groups). Further Stages for students aged 14+, these again run for three hours but are run more as performing arts club working towards performances as a group.
Stagecoach is a franchise and as such we adhere to very strict guidelines and procedures which are checked and approved by our Head Office. We are inspected regularly to ensure we are providing opportunities for our students and following the highest standards across teaching, safeguarding and health and safety.
In addition, Stagecoach Torquay is OFSTED registered and all of our team are enhanced DBS checked.
