Assessment & exemplars

Assessment Type 1: Folio

The Folio is worth 30% of the total subject grade. It consists of:

• Research proposal

• Research development

• Discussion (optional)

Submission:

• 10 A4 single-sided pages

Criteria:

• Planning

  • P1 Consideration and refinement of a research question

  • P2 Planning of research processes appropriate to the research question

• Development 

  • D1 Development of the research

  • D2 Analysis of information and exploration of ideas to develop the research

  • D3 Development of knowledge and skills specific to the research question

  • D4 Understanding and development of one or more capabilities

Assessment Type 2: Research Outcome

The Outcome is worth 40% of the total subject grade. It consists of:

• Synthesis of the research 

• Identification, or demonstration, of the key findings

• Substantiation of key findings with evidence and/or examples from the research

• A resolution to the research question

Submission:

• Up to 2000 words or 12 minutes multimodal

Criteria:

• Synthesis 

  • S1 Synthesis of knowledge, skills, and ideas to produce a resolution to the research question

  • S2 Substantiation of key findings relevant to the research outcome

  • S3 Expression of ideas

Assessment Type 3: Evaluation

The Evaluation is worth 30% of the total subject grade. It consists of:

• Evaluation of the research processes

• Evaluation of decisions made in relation to the research processes

• Evaluation of the Research Outcome

Submission:

• Up to 1500 words, plus a 150 word summary. Must be written.

Criteria:

Evaluation 

• • E1 Evaluation of the research processes used, specific to the research question

  • E2 Evaluation of decisions made in response to challenges and/or opportunities specific to the research processes used

  • E3 Evaluation of the quality of the research outcome

• • S3 Expression of ideas
