This semester's pediatric clinic was a great experience. I got to witness, participate in, and lead various interventions. A few of the interventions I led included feeding therapy, where I let the child choose a color of food to try and then provided foods with different textures for her to test. The intervention went really well, and the child was able to touch, smell, and taste all of the foods on the table. I also conducted an intervention where I wrote a social story for a child with emotional regulation problems. The child loves his animals, so I wrote the story about one of his dogs running away. The child enjoyed the activity, and my classmates were able to build upon it.
Being a part of the clinic this semester helped me grow as a student by giving me insights into what my job might be like if I pursue a career in pediatrics. This experience connects to my learning because we covered topics such as food aversion, sensory integration, and emotional regulation.
