First of all, what is 1:1? Simply put, it means 1 device per student. If your district is moving to 1:1 it is crucial that students and teachers receive the necessary support for your program to be successful. Here are clearly defined steps to provide your teachers with the skill set to be successful with implenting 1:1.
I live in Texas and we use the Technology Application TEKS . These, like your curriculum TEKS, provide a clear path as to what each child should be able to accomplish by the end of the school year for that grade level. What's cool about TA TEKS, is they blend so well with your curriculum TEKS. This is also like a "Step 1" of 1:1. In other words, your TA TEKS should blend seamlessly with your curriculum TEKS. They should not function separetly.
I chose this matrix because of the complexity of it's ability to measure technology growth and the resources provided by TIM. This is a well thought out matrix that incorporates 5 levels in the rubric so teachers can hone in on their skill set and easily create a plan of growth.
It has five levels of integration which list basically from beginner to advanced. This levels are Entry, Adoption, Adaptation, Infusion, and Transformation.
Within each of these levels are interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments. These include Active, Collaborative, Constructive, Authentic and Goal-Directed.
To meet these goals and ensure teachers are given the support needed to be successful, we have created 4 phases that clearly outline expectations for the teacher during this process.
These phases are intended to walk administrators and teachers through the process of the Technology Integration Matrix with the intent to transform teachers
