Disparities diagnosis and treatment of developmental-behavioral conditions for Hispanic children are pervasive. This study examined the relationships between socio-ecological factors related to immigration, parental concern for child behavior, and screening instruments across the continuum of care. Results suggest potential mechanisms of inequitable outcomes and intervention opportunities.
Policy innovations in school-based, child mental health services

The surgeon general report on the youth mental health crisis outlined priorities and pathways of action to support US children. This project used a design justice approach to engage stakeholders and propose innovative policy solutions that improve mental health care in schools. The project explored health exposures at the intersections of gender, race, and legal status.
Pathways to autism diagnosis: The lived experience of Hispanic immigrant families

Hispanic children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at lower rates and later in development; screening in pediatric primary care may ameliorate this difference in care. This study qualitatively investigated parents' beliefs about autism, early understanding of behaviors related to the disorder in their children, and engagement with the American healthcare system.
Identifying early risk and trajectory of autism spectrum disorder in a longitudinal study
