Where do I go?
Most of the time we meet in either the youth room or the backyard. If we are meeting somewhere else for a specific event, we'll include that in the event information. The backyard is just behind the church. On Sunday mornings, join us in the youth room by heading down the stairs near the main doors, and continuing down the large hallway across from the stairs to the double doors. On Sunday evenings, you can park by the playground on the left side of the church and enter through that gate. The youth room door will have a big purple sign on it!
What do I wear?
Don't stress about this. We just ask if you would avoid wearing clothing with vulgar imaging/wording and try to make sure your outfit is comfortable and functional for whatever activities we are doing!
Who is welcome?
EVERYONE. Just as they are. Nothing about you could make you unwelcome. St. Luke's is an LGBTQIA+ affirming community.

What is SLY about?
Meeting Needs & Supporting Youth:
We want our youth ministry to first and foremost serve to meet the needs of our youth. The teen years are tough, and the more invested adults teens and children have in their corner, the more healthy and successful they are. We want to be a part of your cheerleading team, offer advice and learning opportunities, and be there for youth while they navigate their teen years. We also want them to have a solid community of other youth to hear from, commiserate, and celebrate with.
Grace, Courage, Wonder, and Beyond:
We want to engage our youth in grace, courage, and wonder.. We want to help youth to know God’s grace, accept God’s grace, and participate in it. We want to nurture our youth’s courage and provide opportunities to put it in to practice. We want to create a community in which they can explore wonder in a world that no longer leaves much time or space for it. Then we want to send them beyond the walls of St. Luke's to take grace, courage, and wonder wherever they go.
Parents:
We want to support parents of youth, and provide resources that help your family navigate the teen years, and all that comes along with that.
Judgement-Free, Identity-Forming, and Playful:
We want your youth to experience a community that is judgement free and safe as they go through their teens. Developmental psychologists have determined that the main developmental work of the teens is the building of identity. We want to make sure one voice speaking to their identity is that they are beloved, they belong, they are unique and important, and they have something to offer the world. We also want to offer a space where our youth can simply BE. So many youth feel immense pressure to be the best student, best athlete, best employee, etc. every day. They do not have many spaces they aren’t expecting perfect excellence from them at all times. We want youth programming to meet needs for rest, room to fail without the world ending, and engaging in play, joy, and wonder without judgement, as these too are vital pieces to identity formation.
