Dear Learners,
My name is Mrs. Victoria Amarasiri, but most of my students call me Mrs. A.
I believe that learners in sixth grade are at a critical junction in their mathematical education. We start to make conclusions about our math abilities that will greatly impact our path in math in high school. I fully believe that nobody is more mathy than anyone else, and that all of us either love math or do not yet realize that we love math. What impedes a love for math is often simply a lack of differentiated learning in the classroom. When students tell me, “I do not like this subject…” what I hear is “There is something I do not understand and it makes me feel uncomfortable.” That is at the core of what I do, surface misunderstandings in math and help everyone reach where they need to be.
I look forward to an engaging year of problem solving and a tremendous year of growth.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Amarasiri
