SSV residents are welcome to become members of the Woodshop. It is a place to enjoy woodworking and to learn new skills. 

The woodshop is monitored by members. Monitors will have a name tag indicating that they are a monitor. Their duty is to make sure the shop rules are followed and all safety rules are practiced. They are also there to help with projects or help direct members to another member that has experience in certain types of woodworking.

To join the woodshop, all new members must go through an orientation session with one of our monitors. From October through March, orientation is on the first Saturday of the month at 8:00AM. for other months, an orientation session must be scheduled with one of the monitors. In the orientation session, a new member is shown the proper way to safely use all of the machines. He/she is also instructed in the woodshop rules. No one can use ANY of the facilities of the woodshop until they have completed orientation.

Our members pay no dues. We support ourselves by crushing aluminum cans that are donated by the residents. We do projects for residents and for various clubs in the community.

The woodshop is split between two rooms: the Assembly Room and the Tool Room.
