If you take a look at the past of India, time of many years ago, there was only one main language which is very popular and known as a Devbhasha that was Sanskrit. Sanskrit is one of the richest language has versatile literature in different subject like Science and technology, Medicines, Arts etc in the world. In Ancient India there were two biggest Universities had established which are most popular among the students. The students comes to study in these Universities, not from India but from across the world in various subject.

There is nothing wrong in saying that Sanskrit is an incomparable store of knowledge. Today, it becomes like a mission to learning Sanskrit Language. The Former Chief Minister of Gujarat state, an now Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi decided to establish Shree Somnath Sanskrit University in Gujarat.

In his visionary leadership, there was established Shree Somnath Sanskrit University at Veraval, District – Gir Somnath, Gujarat. This university is also known as SSSU.

About Shree Somnath Sanskrit University (SSSU):

SSSU established in the year 2005, Shree Somnath Sanskrit University is a non-profit public higher education institution. It is located in the rural setting of the large town of Veraval, Gujarat. It is officially recognized as a State University by the University Grants Commission (UGC), India. It is a co-educational higher education institution.

SSSU offer courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study from Certificates to PHD. It also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library as well as administrative services. It was established by the Gujarat government by passing the Shree Somnath Sanskrit University Act, 2005 and published a notification on 11-April-2005.

The only motive of SSSU is to live in the competitive world of today and tomorrow. SSSU focuses on quality because they believe that quality is a journey, not the destination. It is the Public State University with Sanskrit as its medium of instruction. It’s having 6 Faculties, 1 Constituent College, in which more than 283 students on campus are pursuing higher studies under the care and direction of 21 teaching supporting staff members.

There are more than 4000 students are registered in the University affiliated Colleges/Institutes/Centers. Currently, SSSU has given academic affiliation to 35 Colleges/Institutions across Gujarat. At present, there are 25 Diploma Centers and 35 P.G.D.C.A. centers.

In more, the world famous ‘ARSH’ – Akshardham Research Institute for Social Harmony, Gandhinagar and Tattvajnan Mandir Research Institute, Modasa affiliated with SSSU as a Research Institutes.
