Ongoing weekly : Interactive Math Lessons with the Ugandan Kids
Ongoing weekly : Virtual Soccer Skill lessons for Kids in Rural India
Every week our dedicated student volunteers meet with children from Love Uganda orphanage to teach them math concepts according to their grade level. Over several months, this has improved the performance of these children in regular school. Some children require extra attention and coaching. We strive to make education interesting for them by sponsoring intermittent awards.
As student mentors, we work with Ugandan kids helping them with their school curriculum. Weekly sessions are held via Zoom and over a period of time we have seen improvement in the kids' grades and engagement with studies. We have also designed a culturally sensitive math curriculum for the kids so they can immediately start reaping the benefits of their new skills in practical life.
Empowering Ugandan Orphanage Children: A Transformative Weekend Event conducted via Zoom.
In late September, our NGO embarked on a mission that left a profound impact on the lives of children from a Ugandan orphanage. Over two consecutive weekends, September 24th and 31st of 2023, we hosted an unforgettable event that blended education, creativity, and cultural enrichment.
On September 24th, we organized a Math competition that aimed to not only challenge but also empower these young minds. The children were grouped according to their age, ensuring that each participant felt comfortable and motivated to excel. The competition served as a showcase of the math skills they had cultivated over the past two years through our culturally sensitive math curriculum, meticulously designed and coached by our team. Through this event, we not only celebrated their passion for mathematics but also highlighted the boundless potential they had developed.
Then, on September 31st, we witnessed the children's musical talents shine during a spectacular music competition. They showcased their violin skills, which they had acquired under the guidance of a dedicated teacher. The harmonious melodies filled the air, symbolizing the beauty of nurturing talents and the universal language of music.
In addition to the musical showcase, these incredible children participated in a Model United Nations (UN) competition. They had received coaching and guidance to understand international diplomacy and global issues. Their participation in this Model UN event demonstrated their growing awareness of global affairs and their capacity to be future leaders.
The success of this event was made possible by the unwavering support of our generous donors and the PeoplesBank, to whom we are immensely grateful. Their contributions not only made this event a reality but also ensured the bright future of these children. The funds raised during this event will be dedicated to sustaining their education and providing them with opportunities that will shape their destinies.
In the end, this event was not just about competitions and performances; it was about empowering these children with knowledge, skills, and confidence. We believe that the seeds sown during these two weekends will yield a bountiful harvest of success and hope for these remarkable children from the Ugandan orphanage.
We held Soccer training camps for students in rural Bengal. These students had no access to coaching but had a great fondness for the game. We devised a structured soccer training program via Zoom meetings and videos for various skills. The students formed a team and started to compete with the neighboring village. We arranged scholarship money for their uniforms, goalposts, and other equipment. The team went on to win a regional soccer tournament under our guidance.
A local newspaper article was published detailing the soccer training camps held by our NGO and the recognition from local political authorities regarding the initiative.
We worked to rebuild the soccer field in a remote village of Kaima in West Bengal after cyclone Yaas in 2021. We also collected funds via bake sales and family and friends fundraiser to send to people displaced from their homes. Our basic purpose was to provide basic amenities of clean water and meals to those coming to terms with huts that got submerged in the floods caused by the cyclone.
