So do we do Fundraising? You Bet..
When we sell our Class B t-Shirt to ourselves or others..that's fundraising, We will have an at least once a year a Ship Fundraising event, like selling "I love a sea scouts" T-shirts. Also event items, can be obtained by ship members (swag) can be donated and sold at fundraising events.
Bottom line is our costs as a program are directly related to the amount of fundraising we do. A committee member will be in charge of tracking this effort along with the Purser (scout) of the ship.
Ongoing Costs:
Typical Class B Activity Shirt $25.00
Sea bag for holding PFD, sweatshirt, water bottle, etc $40.00
PFD (depends on type $37-100) Scouts typically bring their own to each event.
Food cost, Transportation cost, fuel, fees are determined by complexity of event.
Admission fees to events, patches, etc. Included in membership fees.
Bottom line, Sea Scouts gives a lot more for the dollar contributed, because we run the program, all Volunteer. Like you.
