Welcome to the Smart Structures Research Laboratory (SSRL) at The University of Texas at Austin. Our mission is to pioneer scientific discovery and develop next-generation technologies for the monitoring, assessment, and protection of civil and aerospace structures.
Our research integrates principles of dynamics and vibrations, wave propagation, digital signal processing, advanced sensing, and statistical modeling to address pressing challenges in structural health monitoring and nondestructive evaluation. The inherently interdisciplinary nature of our work fosters collaboration across engineering, materials science, and data analytics, bridging fundamental research and practical implementation.
We invite you to explore the SSRL website, where you can learn more about our ongoing projects, recent publications, and laboratory capabilities.
Active Research and Areas of Interest:
Structural health monitoring (SHM)
Nondestructive evaluation (NDE)
