Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
Demonstrate knowledge of basic construction materials and project delivery methods.
Explain fundamental construction processes.
Use common surveying instruments and tools.
Apply construction safety practices.
Interpret building codes and specifications, including sustainable construction concepts.
Recognize emerging construction technologies.
Apply basic AI-assisted tools, including generative AI and computer vision, to support VDC workflows in construction, including data processing and visualization.
BCN4423C - Temporary Structures (Module Instructor & Teaching Assistant)
This course introduces the temporary structures that contractors have to build to construct the primary structure. This includes formwork, scaffolding, excavation support systems, and equipment for hoisting materials, personnel, and erecting structures.
BCN4252 - Introduction to Building Information Modeling (Guest Reviewer)
This course introduces major instructional areas, including Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), clash detection, mixed reality (augmented and virtual reality), 3D, 4D, and 5D simulation, quantity takeoff, UAVs and drones, photography and laser scanning, as well as animations and 360° photo/videography.
BCN3431C - Structures (Teaching Assistant)
This course introduces the fundamentals of structural systems and design, with emphasis on steel and concrete construction. Students will learn to interpret and apply ASTM standards, building codes, and design methodologies; analyze and design basic structural elements; and understand construction assemblies and connections. The course also develops proficiency in reading and using structural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
BCN5737 - Advanced Issues in Construction Safety and Health (Teaching Assistant)
This graduate-level course examines key aspects of construction safety and health, including regulatory frameworks, hazard management, risk assessment, and safety program development. Students will explore human factors, leadership in fostering safety culture, and effective training methods, while also considering emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of construction safety.
