Bearing in mind, an SSG Officer plays a huge role in various fields. Without a doubt, we will need an individual who would heartedly perform his/her responsibilities through better qualities. A quality including the ability to make independent decisions, ability to understand uneven needs and opinions, ability to provide effective communication skills, and most likely dependable. Yet the most significant quality to have is the "Acceptance of Criticism". A leader will undoubtedly make mistakes, yet he/she should not take it as a failure or a downfall. He/she must be persistent in reminding oneself that no leader is perfect. After all, even if an individual upholds numerous values yet forgets to put God as the center of his/her ruling, then everything may seem outrageous. An SSG Leader is NOT JUST a simple officer, thus he/she pursues to let others experience the true essence of key leadership. With this, I could say that I am pleased to be an SSG Officer.
Well, being a student leader comes with great responsibility. There will be a load of works to do, but you shouldn't forget that you also have responsibilities in terms of academics. So all you need to do is to organize everything first. Organize all the things that you need to do in terms of academics. Then proceed into doing the requirements needed in the SSG. Do it slowly, but surely. Next, time management. Prioritize first your needs than your guilty pleasures.
"Youths are the hope of the future," Dr. Jose Rizal once observed. We, the youth, need to improve our abilities, particularly in leadership, as it is one of the key characteristics that we should be able to exercise at a young age. Leadership entails not only directing a specific set of individuals but also introducing something into the minds of others. Being a leader should start being practiced as early as possible because it will greatly benefit us in many aspects. Leadership will enable us to be driven in able for us to achieve our goals. Leadership enables us to connect with others through our actions. Leadership teaches us how to inspire others. Leadership enables us to solve challenges, no matter how big or small it is. It enables people to envision the future in a constructive and inventive manner. It shapes the way we normally communicate. It boosts our trust.
Being a leader is also being a good follower as well. It is excellent preparation for our maturity, as we will be responsible for our own lives throughout that time.
Honestly, it is really tiring. But if you are passionate, devoted, and your heart is willing to serve, then be a leader. The process is devitalizing but after you've witnessed the fruits of your labor, it's relaxing I promise.

First, change that mindset. You see, many students want to be a leader but what's holding them back is the fear of the consequences of leading including the tantamount workload in facilitating events, disciplining our co-Holycrossians, commitments of our scholarly devoirs, balancing social life, and house works, simultaneously. To be a leader means prioritizing your goals at the expense of personal sacrifices in need to put in extra effort to balance our multiple roles and manage the competing demands of student involvement and succeed academically. Second, it is essential to acknowledge that time management, organizational strategies, priority-setting, teamwork, discipline, and the assistance of our SSG advisors are instrumental to successfully manage student affairs and academic coursework that will aid us to fixate our efforts on what is most crucial. Lastly, focusing on our goals as student leaders increases the likelihood that we persist in being steadfast and versatile in our journey because being a leader entails having the will to serve others and become a holistic individual prepared to thrive the world, beginning in our community.
