Frequently Asked Questions
Employees on probationary status must serve in this classification for at least two years prior to becoming eligible for permanent status. While the rights of probationary employees are somewhat more well-established, there is still very little protection. Barring very serious and unusual performance issues, probationary employees are ensured a full year of employment. First year probationary employees may be non-reelected up until the end of the school year and second year probationary employees must receive notice of non-reelection no later than March 15th of the second probationary year. It’s important to understand that under the Education Code, the District has an absolute right to non-reelect without cause. In fact, school districts purposely do not provide employees with reasons for non-reelections other than stating the legally acceptable phrase that the employee is “not a good fit”.
My Prep time is getting interrupted with meetings or other tasks, what can I do?
You can contact your administrator and let them know your concern. Insist that you need your preparation time to get ready for instruction. This is a contractual violation and you can contact your building representative if site support is needed.
What do I do if I take a personal necessity leave day and get contacted by HR requesting further information?
Please respond by stating: The purpose of this email response is to verify that I used personal necessity leave for the purpose as set forth in Article 14, Section G-2. My reason for this leave is confidential (per Article 14).
That's all that is required to do.
