I am in the business of trying to figure out how tsunamis work and how they are generated. It would seem like we have a pretty good understanding of which earthquakes cause which tsunamis, but it is not so simple. In that regard, I use a lot of atmospheric science tools to attack the tsunami problem. In addition, I utilize meteorological tools to better estimate how to forecast tsunamis.
