Hi, I'm Vivian Carranco. I spent six years as a high school counselor before stepping into my current role as the District College and Career Readiness Specialist. In this position, I’ve focused on ensuring all students have access to high-quality educational experiences that prepare them for life beyond high school. In recognition of this work, I was honored to receive the 2024 San Diego County School Counselor Advocate of the Year award.
When our district began implementing the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) and CaliforniaColleges.edu, I saw an opportunity to support school counselors by developing a suggested implementation guide. Drawing on my experience at the school site level, I created a practical tool to help streamline the rollout of these important college and career readiness resources. As a result, our district achieved full implementation across all schools.
I was later invited by the San Diego County Office of Education to collaborate on a countywide guide for school counselors and educators. My goal is to continue sharing tools and strategies that make implementation easier, more effective, and centered on student success.
