OVERVIEW
The School Wellness Education Council (SWEC) is a student-run council that provides a health and wellness-centered approach to professional development opportunities to the students of Slippery Rock University. Specifically, the students whom are currently majoring in the School Wellness Education track of the Physical and Health Education program. Overseen by Dr. Joanne Leight (Department Chair, 2017 - Present) and Dr. Hannah Holl (Council Adviser, 2017 - Present,) SWEC works closely with the faculty and staff of the PHE Department at Slippery Rock University to provide the most useful and educational council possible. We are able to do so by placing an emphasis on creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills to not only collaborate better with the department, peers, and colleagues, but to also enhance our students' skills as the future Wellness teachers of America and around the globe.
Additionally, the School Wellness Education Council (formerly known as PHE Club and SRUAHPERD,) has been involved in the planning, and subsequently the success, of Mini-Convention in some fashion or another since the programs inception. From organizing guest speakers, presenters, catering, the registration process, and much, much, much more, Mini-Convention has become the "crown jewel" for SWEC and the entire PHE Department. Without the tireless efforts of our faculty, council advisers, board members, and student members, Mini-Convention would not be possible, and would not nearly be as a successful event as it has become.
SWEC is lead by an Executive Board of students who have shown exemplary initiative to not only the department, but to the profession as a whole. Each board member is selected by the previous years board in collaboration with the council's advisers, and serve on a one-year basis (unless re-elected for the following term.)

The 2017-18 SWEC Board would like to thank and recognize Ms. Ana Soeder for her contributions to the Executive Board. She was elected to the office of Vice President at the beginning of the Fall Semester, but had to step down from her role before the Spring Semester began.
Ana, we thank you for your tremendous attitude and contributions to our team, as your smile and optimism was infectious to each and every one of us. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, and most importantly, "don't be a stranger."
