Ph.D. position opening in the Systems Realization Laboratory @ Florida Institute of Technology
We currently have one Ph.D. position opening (Mechanical Engineering) in the Systems Realization Laboratory @ Florida Institute of Technology (SRL@FIT). We are seeking highly self-motivated and talented students to join our lab. The position will start in Fall 2023 (August 2023). It will offer full financial support in the form of a Graduate Research Assistantship in the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology. The application deadline is June 30, 2023 (or until the position is filled).
SRL@FIT aims to be a multicultural, multidisciplinary academic family focused on educating the next generation of engineers and professors. Our goal at SRL@FIT is to provide an opportunity for each person to learn how to dream and rise to their full potential and contribute to the scholarship associated with the realization of complex engineered systems. We require people with multidisciplinary backgrounds – preferably in the areas of engineering design, machine learning, materials science, manufacturing, and systems design (or related areas).
Candidates with a strong background in computational modeling, engineering design, optimization, materials science and engineering, and machine learning are highly encouraged to apply.
The Ph.D. research will investigate new ways to address the co-consideration of manufacturing processes in the early stages of materials and product design. By including the considerations of manufacturing processes in the early stages of design, designers can make effective decisions to customize the material microstructure and achieve desired product performance, as envisioned by Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME).
Candidates should have an MS (or equivalent) degree and must take the TOEFL or IELTS exam (mandatory for application).

Curriculum Vitae (include GPA, TOEFL / IELTS scores, GRE scores if available, etc.);
Copy of publication(s), if applicable.
Interested candidates are requested to use the following format for subject lines while sending emails: “Full Name – Prospective Ph.D. Student – DATE.” Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Zoom interview.
