simulating translation and replication of coxsackie virus

We modeled the interactions of the viral RNA with two host-cell proteins and simulated the kinetics of viral translation and replication. These interactions were modeled as chemical reactions which led to three ordinary differential equations. These equations were integrated to obtain the kinetics of viral translation and replication.

By using this model, we showed that the ratio between the amounts of positive and negative strand RNA depended primarily on the differential interaction of a host-protein with these RNAs. We demonstrated this both analytically, computationally and experimentally.
