(With Parimala) trying to address Totaro's question for absolutely (almost) simple adjoint algebraic groups of low rank. I am also learning about patching techniques used in the study of local-global principles with Suresh.
(With Taylor and Shilpi) trying to look at valuations on differential rings.

I once asked Parimala, "What do you do when you can't solve a problem?" and she replied, "I don't sleep!" None of us in the class were ready for this answer. She goes, "No really! I cannot sleep for a few nights, and when I am on the verge of loosing my health over that, I divert myself to some other problem. Nevertheless, I always have the last one at the back of my mind, and come back to it as and when possible."
I feel fortunate to be able to see such a great mathematician at work daily, but at the same time, just to belong to a community which constantly seeks for answers to deep-seated questions is a bliss. Research hurts my brain, but calms my soul.. I mean, how many get to 'solve problems' for a living?
