I believe in Federico Ardila-Mantilla's four axioms of math learning, which goes as follows:
Axiom 1. Mathematical talent is distributed equally among different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries.
Axiom 2. Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.
Axiom 3. Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by various communities to serve their needs.
Axiom 4. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Find more about 'Todos Cuentan' (Spanish for 'everybody counts') in this article! I have always found myself curious about diverse learning environments, in terms of age, gender and socio-economic backgrounds, both as a student and as an instructor. Teaching seminars at Emory has immensely helped me to improve upon my teaching style and constantly adapt to a better and comprehendible version of me.
Emory Math Circle (2023 - 2024)
Emory University
I have been an organizer and instructor for EMC for three semesters. In that time, I have interacted with almost a hundred middle-schoolers and high-schooler, and exchanged interesting mathematical conversations with them. I have also organized Julia-Robinson Math Festival at Emory, which is an excellent opportunity for middle and high school students and their parents to engage in. Keep an eye on the their page for cool updates! Don't forget to check out EMC's page too.
Mentor at Meet and Mentor Initiative (Spring 2023)
Emory Residence Hall Association
Often it is overwhelming in your senior years of undergraduate to think about the grad school applications. I have always tried my best to help anyone who's applying/ preparing to apply and seeks for it. Emory RHA has catalyzed my initiative and gave me a position to officially mentor an undergrad with this. If you are thinking about such applications, I will be happy to have a chat. Just know that, you are not alone in this, and there are others who can share their experiences and mistakes with you if you seek, to make your path a little smoother.
TIFR-H & UoH School Outreach (2019-2021)
TIFR TCIS, Hyderabad
Growing up in the city-heart of Kolkata, I have missed out on the experience of residential Government schools of India. During three years of undergrad, I couldn't miss out the amazing opportunity provided by Science Education department of TIFR-Hyderabad to go out to the neighbouring Navodaya schools and guide middle and high schooler with science class. These weekends classes were to support the usual science classes in the school, and often used for demonstrating physical phenomena learned from books. Our main objective would be to make students fearlessly ask questions and brainstorm with peers.
