What's Around?

If you're staying at the Fogelman Executive Center or the Holiday Inn on the UofM campus, you are within walking distance of several different areas where you can find a wide range of restaurants.

If you head west on Central Ave. (from the FEC) and then turn left on Highland, you'll hit the "Highland Strip." There you'll find Newk's Eatery, Char Steakhouse, Lenny's Subs, Cafe Eclectic, The Bluff (bar and restaurant), Belltower Coffee House, Maciel's Tacos, Burgerim, and a few other spots.

If you continue on Highland and turn left on Walker (you can also take Patterson to hit Walker), you'll find RP Tracks (a local favorite--the BBQ tofu is out of this world!), Moe's, and Garibaldi's Pizza.

FInally, if you turn right on Highland when heading west on Central, you'll see Joe's on Highland (excellent fried chicken and other Southern dishes) and a small shopping center that houses a few restaurants, including a Jason's Deli.

See the below map.

Two areas relatively close to campus that you might enjoy visiting are Overton Square (http://overtonsquare.com/) and the Cooper Young neighborhood (http://cooperyoung.com/), both of which are a quick 5-10 minute Uber or taxi ride from campus.

If you have time, we highly recommend visiting the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel, located in downtown Memphis (https://www.civilrightsmuseum.org/)
