Intro to Spanish Class Information
Class Procedures
Arrive on time for class.
Wear a mask and use hand sanitizer when entering the Spanish classroom.
Avoid touching others and keep social distancing at all times.
Clean up your desk and chair with a disinfectant wipe when you enter the classroom.
Seat in your assigned seat and follow all classroom procedures.
Be prepared for class with all of your materials and a learning attitude.
Keep your Chromebook charged and clean.
Use Google Classroom and our online resources on a daily basis.
You must keep a pair of earbuds in a Ziploc bag in your backpack.
*NOTE* Most of the content notes and assignments in Spanish class will be delivered and completed electronically. These are some of the web-based platforms we will be using: Classkick, Edpuzzle, Classtime, Bookwidgets, Pear Deck, Quizlet, Quizizz, Seesaw, Plickers, Kahoot, Nearpod, Story Jumper, Gimkit, Padlet, and others.
You must have a pencil and your Spanish plastic folder in your backpack every day.
Put away all electronics; no texting or phone calls during class.
Water is the only drink allowed in class.
Respect yourself, respect others, and respect Spanish culture!
This is a safe space for all people! Learning Spanish is fun when everyone feels safe, respected, and appreciated. We will be learning about cultures that are different from our own. Approach all new information with a respectful attitude.
Participate in class and speak as much Spanish as possible.
Complete your class and homework assignments.
Gather and complete all missed work when you are absent.
Learning Targets
This Intro to Spanish course will introduce you to foreign language learning. We will focus on basic Spanish vocabulary and use visual cues and context to understand what is being said. A variety of audio, videos, writing, and other activities incorporating the available technology in the classroom will be used as well. We will also learn about cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. We will focus on the three modes of communication: Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational as suggested by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
6th Grade Learning Targets:
We will go over forms of greetings in Spanish and the manner in which they should be used in different situations.
Study the Spanish alphabet and begin to read Spanish words.
Count to 50.
Learn the colors.
Understand the concept of gender in Spanish grammar.
Express likes and dislikes.
Describe common weather conditions, the days of the week, months, seasons, and how to say the date in the correct form.
Ask and answer personal information questions.
Learn about the Spanish speaking countries' capitals, locations, and their cultures.
