What are the Square Seminars?
The Square Seminars provide an informal platform for postgraduate students in theoretical physics and closely related areas to share and discuss their research (or anything else they may find interesting and deem appropriate) to an audience of their peers. They consist of one-hour seminars with discussions and questions from the audience.
What is the level of the seminars?
The Square Seminars are intended for an audience of PhD students in theoretical physics and closely related areas. While each seminar should be broadly accessible to PhD students of any year group, the majority of the speakers are currently 1st and 2nd year students. To get a more precise idea of the level of the seminars, you may want to have a quick look at the recordings of previous seminars.
Can I join?
Of course! Click here to join the mailing list and we'll send you a weekly email with the Zoom login details. Some of our seminars (typically those in which the speaker is in London) are in-person, but we always provide the option to join in remotely.
Can I give my own seminar?
Absolutely, and we encourage everyone to do so. You can practice for other seminars you may have to give by delivering a Square Seminar about your current research, or you can use your Square Seminar as an excuse to dive into a new topic that you've always wanted to self-study, or simply a topic that you may have forgotten. Either way, please let us know here.
