Coffee Shop Barista– Square Mile Coffee Company

Position Summary
We are seeking a customer-focused and dependable Barista to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable about beverage preparation and café operations. This position requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Present menus, answer questions, and provide recommendations based on customer preferences.
Accurately take customer orders, paying close attention to beverage customizations and dietary preferences.
Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
Serve food items and ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment.
Process customer transactions using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including customer-facing and back-of-house areas.
Monitor inventory levels of cups, mugs, plates, and other supplies; restock as needed.
Operate brewing and beverage preparation equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Communicate customer feedback, concerns, and suggestions to management.
Support the promotion of featured beverages, seasonal offerings, and specialty products.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Barista, Server, or in a customer service role preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal communication abilities.
Basic math and cash-handling skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
Ability to assess customer preferences and make personalized recommendations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
