Similes, metaphors, and analogies are very similar

Similes and metaphors both liken two wholly unlike items. Where a simile uses the “like” or “as” to compare, a metaphor frankly states something as “being.” An analogy is a comparison of two things used for the purpose of explanation. 

1.) SIMILE: "Life is like a box of chocolates."

2.) METAPHOR: "Life is a bowl of chocolates."

3.) ANALOGY: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get."
