The prong collar is helpful on walks so that you can have more control over Spruce dog. He is very strong, so setting good boundaries and rules while walking is essential. The prong collar helps with corrections and maintaining a pleasant "heel" throughout the walk.
These pictures are taken from this site that goes into detail about the correct way to put a prong collar on.
Dogology has a great page here about how to use the prong collar effectively on a walk.
The ET300 Mini Educator e-collar is great for peace of mind when Spruce is off-leash. He loves his e-collar because it usually means we're going to go do something fun! This tool is very effective for creating and maintaining listening skills and boundaries in high-adventure environments. Below is a video for a comprehensive overview of all the features the collar offers.
In general, I use the e-collar to ensure Spruce is listening well. If I give a verbal command and he ignores it, I use the vibrate function as a gentle reminder that he should listen when I give a cue the first time. Just the vibrate function works 98% of the time, but in a situation where the vibrate is not enough to get his attention from whatever stimulus is exciting him/captivating his attention (like a cat or a bunny), the shock button at a level of 15-25 (depending on the stimulus) will do the trick to refocus his attention back to you.
There is also a light function on the e-collar that makes nighttime potties helpful so you can see where he is in the dark. It may also be useful for nighttime walks to alert others that he is near.

I want to please you and make you happy so that you will give me all the treats.
